Default RE: Nitro or Petro ?

MadGTI,

At a certain point in time, this forum was inaptly named 'Nitro Engines'.

This changed to 'Glow Engines', since:

1. Nitromethane is a minority ingredient in the fuel glow engines use; even those that use high percentages don't exceed 30%, with methanol being the overwhelming majority ingredient (except in special racing classes, which are less than 1/1,000 of the modelers).
About half the operators of these engines (not in North America) use no nitro at all, in their fuels.

2. The one property that completely unifies all these engines is the glow plug.

3. Nothing in common between us and 'Top Fuel Dragsters'...

The term 'Petro' is not used by many either; just say 'gas'...
