I have encountered the same problem with my system. Brand new 3.4Ghz machine with ATI Radeon X700 Pro graphics card w/256mb memory and 525Mhz clock speed.
The problem is most DEFINITELY not the graphics card, it is a problem with either the sound card itself or the drivers for it.
I disabled the sound card using the device manager and AFPD now works perfectly.
However, this is not my final solution. I am going to try to download new drivers for the sound card. If this does not resolve the problem, I will contact the people with Ikarus and see if they can come up with a solution or possibly a patch.
I may try to get them to test other sound cards in my machine to see if this a problem with AFPD software or a problem with the sound cards themselves.
