RE: Extra on a diet
Thanks for all the replies guys. Here's a little story so you can understand why I took it so well (well, not so well, but better than I would another crash).
About 12 years ago I bought a Hobbico Diabolo 40 ASAP. I never got a chance to finish it. Then I stoped flying for several years and now I'm back. One day I was trying to see if there was anything missing and found out that I had misplaced the motor mount and the fuel tank. Trying to replace them was not possible, because Hobbico has stoped making that ARF. The motor mount is very hard to replace, especially here in Greece. So I gave up on it. A couple of weeks ago I stoped by the LHS to get some props and I see the Extra. It was from the same line of products. I open the box and, to my surprise, it has exactly the same motor mount and fuel tank as the Diabolo did. It was even at a good price, being an old model and all. So I think, I'll buy it, build it, and if I crash it, I'll have the parts to build the Diabolo! And so I did.
To make a long story short, I'm putting the Diabolo together this week and, weather permiting, I'll fly it this weekend. MYSHELF! So, that crash didn't really bother me that much, because I had the other model that I could never build without the parts from the Extra.
