Here my 2 cents worth...

I used socket head screws to hold the gear down. I pressed the cover onto the bolts, hard enough to leave an impression in the balsa. Then I drilled out the impressions with the proper sized drill bit and monokoted it in place. Works like a charm. If I ever need to remove it all have have to do is cut at the seam.
