I have a 3W48B2 rear induction engine in my PW. I cut out the firewall for the carb to fit. It still has all of the openings in the extension that holds the firewall. Do I need to add a tube to bring air into the carb or can it draw enough air from the surrounding air coming through the cowl and fuse? I think I have read about installing a 1" Diameter tube to the outside of the cowl but I'm thinking that that was for when the carburetor was completely enclosed.

You will have plenty of air for the engine without having to perform any other mods to the engine box. The easy way to tell would be to tach the engine at full throttle with everything in place. Make the engine move as much air as possible. While it is running pull of the canopy off and see what if anything changes. Then if necessary make mods to get more air to the carb. I doubt if you will need anything.
