DTB, thanks that was quite helpful. The engine was the 51 i was talking about. Ringed supertigre G51. Will it be enough to pull it? I just want to hover mainly. No mods, just hang it on the prop when i get bored. I don't want to extend anything either because i still wand a little speed.
I also have a parachute drop on my plane, Mine is more simple though. It is a cup which i put the parachutes in, go inverted and they are gone.
raideron is correct. If you have a 4*60, the 51 will be not be enough to hover. If you have the 40 size, then you have a better chance to hover the plane. Which size do you own?
Also, IMO 4-strks are better for hovering and 3D stunts due to the low end torque that they have which allows you to swing a bigger prop which puts out more prop wash. 2-strks produce their power in the upper RPM range which is good for speed. The G51 with a 12.25x3.75 would work well if it can spin it. The 51 isn't as strong as a OS .46FX or AX. Sorry [

Oh, I just re-read you post and you are talking about pull out power. I'm not sure what type of pull out you are looking for, but the 51 should pull a 40 size out ok but no rocket out of a hover, you would want a .61 on a 40 size for a rocket pull out.
BTW, even with my extened surfaces, my plane is still fast. A buddy is a policeman who radared my 4*60 at 116 mph. I was shocked that it was going that fast because I don't have it setup for speed, but the YS is a very strong motor. Since it is supercharged, it has the power of a normal OS, Magnum or Saito 1.20 size 4-strk engines.
If you are going to be going for speed and have larger control surfaces, you need to make sure that your mechanical advantage is at the servo and not the control horn which could cause flutter. I try to make it a habbit of having proper mechanical advantage regardless.
Your parachute drop system is simplier than mine, but you didn't get a headache trying to set it up either did you? hahaha... My head still hurts due to the servo is located where the other servos are located in the fuse, but operates the hatch up front with the pivot point in front of the hatch also. Not very easy to think up, but I got it to work although it wasn't the easiest thing to come up with.
