Hello,
I'm new to gas engines, and I have been meticulously following this thread. Thanks all for the great source of information.
My question is how exactly to mount a BME 50 in my GP Patty. I just purchased the engine and on the advice of postings on this thread, the aluminum standoffs from RC Showcase, 1 1/4 inch long, and the Hangar 9 aluminum motor mount. Since the firewall is 1/4" thick, the engine mount 1/2", and the standoffs 1 1/4" simple math dictates the mounting bolts should be a little more than 2" long, preferably 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" I would guess.
I have searched high and low (LHS, Home Depot, TowerHobbies) for 10-32 (or 8-32) bolts of this length. No luck, it seems they just don't make this size of bolt that long! I would like the kind with the allen head since they're easier to work with.
Just where can I find suitable bolts for this application, and am I indeed searching for the correct bolt? Also, should I be using blind nuts on the inside of the firewall?
Thanks in advance,
Martin.
