I've got about 9 or 10 midairs trough the years I fly. Always each pilot has to deal his own costs which I think is normal.
Maybe he has not heard you asking. I don't think you realy can blame him (neither that he can blame you for this).
Each should stay calm keep friends, it's just a model plane... (that is what I keep saying to myself when this happens)
