RE: Sure Start engine power?
Thanks for the advice guys, I missed getting to the post office before they closed today so I don't have a weight on the plane yet. I installed the sure start engine and ran two tanks though it pretty rich for a little break-in and then tweaked it up to max output with a 6x4 nylon on it. I kind of tossed it up in the air a little and she seemed like she wanted to pull away. Nothing like it would hover, but I think it will have enough power to pull her around. The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow, so if the wind is okay I'll go out and give it a toss at the field. I'll bring one of my TDs with a hayes mount with me and if the product engine won't keep her in the air I'm pretty sure the TD will. The only thing I'm not crazy about this engine is that while hand proping it, it wants to run backward most of the time! I installed the spring starter on it and that seems to solve the problem. If I can find a small high rpm electric DC motor, I think I'll try to make a starter and dump the spring as I'm sure it's slowing the rpms down with the added drag. I'll post tommorow and let you all know how she goes, Prop.
