I once put DC crystal in SC receiver. hit the power and the servos woudl jump, then nothing. Put in Single conversion receiver and all worked properly.
As stated above, JR receivers are normally postitive shift BUT they may also make neg shift receivers to be used with other brands. I know Hitec ( normally neg shift) makes JR/airtronics compatible receivers too. Look to see if it says Futaba or Hitec compat on your JR receiver. If not, then you have two problems. Wrong crystal AND wrong shfit.
Radio and receiver have to match in shift and channel. Crystal and receiver have to match in brand and SC/DC.
The brand of servos is not an issue. All modern servos for 72 mhz systems will work.
