Regarding the russian stars,
When I was stationed at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan the Russians left behind so many aircraft you would have to see it to believe it. From at least two of my guard towers I had to pull duty in, I could see at least 10 or so planes and helis just in ruins. They all were from the Russian Afghan war which lasted 10 years, although, some are believed to have been there from when Afghanistan had an air force in the 50's. I will try to look through my Army photos to see if I can show you pictures of what I am talking about. I know its a little off subject, but I think its neat to see the many different aircraft and markings. Whenever I saw the planes I always wondered what their last mission had been and how exactly they might there demise. I am not allowed to share all I know about the things I saw, but I think the pictures are a safe bet. The neat things to see were the aircraft in operation which I am not allowed to talk about
I love the big round cowl airplanes. I think a Pitts model 12 would be a fun WH Plane. Well any big bipe for 100cc...lol.
