I have never tested the maximum thickness. I never cut anything thicker than 1/8" on dense materials because of beam divergence that would affect accuracy on thicker parts and materials. I have cut 1/4 balsa with no problems. E-mail Robert Conway at his site, he can give you the real specs on what it can or cannot do.
