Default RE: SeaVeeBee project

Next I had to paint on some scallops. I didn't know how to mask these accurately but then I had an idea. I took a piece of brown paper and drew out the scallops. I layed the paper on the plane to make sure they were ok. (sorry no pics). I then taped the brown paper to a piece of sticky back shelf paper. I don't know why they call it paper because it is actually vinyl. After I cut the pattern out of the vinyl I realized that it wasn't sticky enough to seal the edges. As a matter of fact it wouldn't stick down at all. I thought about misting on a coat of 3M77 but how would I clean up the left over residue? Cleanup of this glue is with mineral spirits. That might be a bit hard on the paint!! Then it hit me. I used a glue stick like the kids use in school. It is a water cleanup glue. Right on.
Here is the vinyl pattern in place.
