Well, here goes with the paint. I used Krylon Fusion in a spray can. It has a very high gloss and dries very fast.

Next I had to paint on some scallops. I didn't know how to mask these accurately but then I had an idea. I took a piece of brown paper and drew out the scallops. I layed the paper on the plane to make sure they were ok. (sorry no pics). I then taped the brown paper to a piece of sticky back shelf paper. I don't know why they call it paper because it is actually vinyl. After I cut the pattern out of the vinyl I realized that it wasn't sticky enough to seal the edges. As a matter of fact it wouldn't stick down at all. I thought about misting on a coat of 3M77 but how would I clean up the left over residue? Cleanup of this glue is with mineral spirits. That might be a bit hard on the paint!! Then it hit me. I used a glue stick like the kids use in school. It is a water cleanup glue. Right on.
Here is the vinyl pattern in place.

I made a stencil for the wing registration too but I can't decide whether or not to put it on.
What do you think? The black letters on the painted wing are just the paper cutout from the printed letters. Oh yeah, I got the letters off MSWord. I used bold Black Arial font and printed it out.

And here is the almost finished version. She needs a bit of yellow pinstiping between the red an black and the floats have to be painted. I can't decide whether to paint them red or black. Any opinions here are more than welcome.
This has been a very fun project and I can hardly wait to see this baby in the air.
The SeaVeeBee was designed and drawn by Terry Lewis who goes by the name of Canadagoose on RCU. It is an awesome looking bird and the plans are very well done. I would recommend them to anyone who likes this type of plane. He also has some very interesting projects under developement. Check out his website.
Thanks to all for your interest and encouragement over the last few months. I hope everyone has a great flying season and Terry, I might have a go at that VeeRod next winter if you get it done. A couple of RCV's on that would be sweet.

Thanks Randy. She's looking great and i wish i could be there for the first flight. Love to see how the RCV pulls her around. Maybe see you at the float fly on fathers day in Alberta.
I'm going to start building the VeeRod through the summer right after i finish with the VeeBee. I'll send some plans your way if it flies ok. I think i'm going to have to scale it up some for two RCV's
though.
