Maiden on the 300 Special
After waiting more than 6 months after having the plane completed i finally got to maiden the Special today. I have a Brison 3.2 on it and added no extra weight at all to the nose. The servos are all in the rear 5645s and 645s 5945s on alerons. This bird flys exceptional and is a great pattern plane. I am running a NX 22/8 prop and the motor is new. I have CG at 3inches and it could go back a little ways more. The inverted flight was great, i just had to add a tounch of elevator to fly it level. Basically hands off inverted. The landings i feel could be a little better by moving CG back a 1/2 inch but no more. I flew 9 flights on it today with a 5 to 7 mph wind . Tracks very well and didnt do a lot of hovering because i want to get some time on the motor . The only issue i have is i would like to slow the speed down a little. Maybe switch to a different brand prop or different size but if i go with a smaller prop it will be over reving maybe i just dont know . The plane pulled great on vertical and was unlimited vertical at 3/4 throttle. Any suggestions on props i could use, but other than that issue its a keeper. I also used a Bissen inverted muffler and i have heard the Bissen cuts performane , i dont agree , i cut 1 inch off the ends of the stacks and i feel the rpms were good for a new motor. DIdnt tach it but it was very impressive and had a nice sound to it .
