not only compatible price but some change on the design, this change is probably better than its big brother, something are really looked cheap (ie, engine mount), or weird (ie, chassis brace), universal shaft changed to CVD, 3mm thick shock tower instead of 5mm as expected, don't know why emphasis on the bearing quality, no o-ring for differential bevel gears to reflect the practical,
I don't see where you get the idea that the changes in the Xb8R could make it better, thats like saying the standard MBX-5 is better than the Prospec, or the standard 777 is better than the SP1. The XB8R is designed to make it cheaper and more forgiving. It may be easier to drive due to all the extra flex and the soft arms but it shouldn't be as fast and will be far less durable than its former version. Its basicly a way for Xray to push up the price of the XB8.
