RE: Quique not going to France this year?
I've been Quique's fan since he was 12 yo, and a member of Argentina's F3A Team. I also saw his father fly, representing the country too. Let me repeat it: I AM HIS FAN:
I read the letters Quique exchange with the local federation. As an R/C enthusiast from Argentina, I feel really sorry that Quique wont participate in France, mainly because with him on board we would have a chance to get a well deserved trophy.
In the other hand, and as a pilot, I understand the position that would raise from the other local competitors willing to get a place on the team, knowing that the federation made an exception, which means one place is already covered.
Yes, the chance that Quique would make it to the team anyway are high, but such speculation is not considered in the qualification process. Also, you should take a look at the new guys there... the difference between Quique and the second one is not that far anymore, believe me.
I don't know how hard was the decision, but it should be. As a native Argentine, I am tired of the "let's break the rules" process that we are so used to. We've been criticized as a nation for that very same reason. So, once somebody sticks to the rules we have just to accept it and move on, even when it means getting one of the best pilots ever out of the National Team.
What would do the Americans or Britts or Japanese in such a case? What if Chyp ask for an exception to the rules? What in your opinion would be the result of it? And what would be the opinion and positions of the rest of the competitors, with logical chances to get to the team?
So, it is a shame that Quique wont be there. You can call it even a tragedy. It wont do any good to the score, nor for the R/C fans. But, finally, somebody followed the written and accepted rules, and, believe me, this really raises OUR bar.
My modest opinion anyway. And I will still be Quique's fan no matter what colors he is defending.
