In my experience the only group that collectively exceeds the arrogance of the Brits are the French.

If they are arrogant I wonder what replying to a thread about Quique Somenzini, yet stating out of the blue that the French and Brist are arrogant is?
I'm living in France now, and have many friends from Britain and elsewhere. The only word to describe a statement like the above, is arrogance!
Anyway this must be ruining a thread for QS, lets just wish him well and I hope that he comes back with avengance.

Try being outside the USA and see the typical American that travels and then you get to see arrogance... so knock it off with the bigotry.

My Feedback: (41)
I've been in pattern for 41 years now and I have competed in a number of International events (4 TOC"s) albiet a longtime ago. The one thing that always struck me was how pattern flyers regardless of where they originate tend to see the bond of flying as being stronger than the country they are affiliated to. It's a small family of people who share a common interest.
I can vividly remember the warmth that all the European and Japanese flyers exhibited. In some cases it was better than that showed by my own fellow countrymen.

I've been Quique's fan since he was 12 yo, and a member of Argentina's F3A Team. I also saw his father fly, representing the country too. Let me repeat it: I AM HIS FAN:
I read the letters Quique exchange with the local federation. As an R/C enthusiast from Argentina, I feel really sorry that Quique wont participate in France, mainly because with him on board we would have a chance to get a well deserved trophy.
In the other hand, and as a pilot, I understand the position that would raise from the other local competitors willing to get a place on the team, knowing that the federation made an exception, which means one place is already covered.
Yes, the chance that Quique would make it to the team anyway are high, but such speculation is not considered in the qualification process. Also, you should take a look at the new guys there... the difference between Quique and the second one is not that far anymore, believe me.
I don't know how hard was the decision, but it should be. As a native Argentine, I am tired of the "let's break the rules" process that we are so used to. We've been criticized as a nation for that very same reason. So, once somebody sticks to the rules we have just to accept it and move on, even when it means getting one of the best pilots ever out of the National Team.
What would do the Americans or Britts or Japanese in such a case? What if Chyp ask for an exception to the rules? What in your opinion would be the result of it? And what would be the opinion and positions of the rest of the competitors, with logical chances to get to the team?
So, it is a shame that Quique wont be there. You can call it even a tragedy. It wont do any good to the score, nor for the R/C fans. But, finally, somebody followed the written and accepted rules, and, believe me, this really raises OUR bar.
My modest opinion anyway. And I will still be Quique's fan no matter what colors he is defending.

I am with Martinoto. I´m a native Argentine too and I feel very desapointed to know that Quique wont be able to compete with the Argentinian Colors anymore. But I will always think that he is and will always be the best.

Anyway.. glad this has become slightly more light-hearted. The WCs will be amazing anyway, look on the bright side, the food and wine will be outstanding. and I have a sneaky suspicion a European might well win it too...
I've been to the US a lot and it was great.. hey, I got to shoot a gun! You just don't get that kind of hospitality here in England. Or Scotland. Or Wales.. Ireland... (oh wait..)
Any predictions?
Roland is going to do well! Christophe will always do well... ?

Well guys,we couldn`t get a better explanation than that from the Man-Himself,i think that`s a very tuff decision to make.
Your dream is always to represent your country no matter what (F3A)W.C,sport or hobby you are and you will do it very very proudly.
But it`s not always like that and if there is the chance to make it happen you should make it happen,go Quique[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif].
My support goes for Quique and as Martimoto said i will admire him and be his fan no matter what country he is representing.
As for pridictions i think Christophe will be very very hard to beat in his home town, but Chip will be in his heels with that Elecktrified Scandalous Bipe,
Roland will be also close by with his E-Onyxx but this Young hotshot from Japan Tetsuo Onda will do something this year,he is the CAOCC champion and i think he is the chosen one
.And yes he is 18.

I can't wait to see the Scandalous bipe fly, though I have seen the development go pretty far in this direction and abandoned. Can't wait to see themm in action. I have my faith in Roland or Christophe, Roland has been really strong last year and this and I think he's up for the title! Maybe a Europe-Asia majority for the top 5 places?

I doubt that, artistic. Jason will be in the top 5.
Edit: Whoops, you said majority. Since Chip and Jason are the only ones to challenge for that top 5, I agree with your prediction.

Please, excuse my poor English.... a friend of my make me realize that the first phrase of my post could drive to a confussion....
Allow me to clarify: I am not a member of Argentina's F3A Team (unfortuinately). I meant that I saw Quique fly when HE was a member at HIS 12.
Thanks for the opportunity, and sorry if somebody get it wrong, it was my fault.
Let me add also that I still keep the issue of Flying Models mag, when Dean Pappas made us all take notice of Quique, I think it was in 1985. He wrote:
"Keep on eye on Quique Somenzini from Argentina. If he competes and get recognition in the future, he will be World Champ one day."
Quique did not finished in the top ten that year, but obviously Dean saw something the rest of us did not perceived. Since that issue, I kept both eyes on Quique, and I am very proud I did. So, congratulations on your "discovery", Dean, whenever you are. I hope you prediction finally will be complete, and someday Quique will be F3A World Champ.

I Think QQ es a great pilot. I have the QQyak 54 72!QUOT!. Is an excellent plane. But, You have to see the other side. Argentina have good pilots ( not as good as QQ), the are fighting for one of the 3 places to. Expending a lot of money. So imagine to fight for only 2 places, because one is reserved for QQ. Give the opportunity to other, to participate to the W/C. every one who competes in F3A, have a dream to participate in the W/C. Comparing with soccer, Brazil Soccer Team 5 Time World Champion, played the las W/C finals and won 2, have to play the Qualifying for the next W/C. Time changes and rules changes.
But I like to see QQ next W/C in 2007 in Argentina with the USA Team.
I Am from Paraguay, so Quique would you like to represent us ? we don't have any representative. Jeje.
