Dan, I've done single channel and dual channel. The only advantage I saw with dual channel is that on dual channel shut down, the engine goes to 55K Rpm for a few seconds before it turns off bringing additional cooling air into the engine before shutdown.

You can do that with your left thumb on the throttle stick and save a channel.

There are some toys to play with on dual channel with smoke, but not at all neccessary.
