Default RE: Hot hot hot!!!!!!!!!

I'm in Houston !!!!

I fly in the evenings, say after 5:30 or 6:00. The sun is low and there is generally a sea breeze. Even though it was in the mid 90's earlier, high 80's with shade and a breeze feels good to us. And we have the high humidity also. Its like the Gulf of Mexico is peeing on us. The fewer clothes the better. White T-shirt, light shorts and SANDALS. Shoes of any kind are unbearable. They sell a bandanna looking thing that you dip in cool water and wrap around your neck. They are great ! We keep a frig full of ice cold water at the field. Fluids are very important. Go sit in the shade between flights. And Gatoraid . There is nothing wrong with a little sweat as long as you don't let your body dehydrate. If you just resign yourself that you are going to be soaking wet with perspiration, suddenly there are plenty of good flying days. And on the way home, I get ice cream.

As far as engines go. We don't have that bad a problem with them. Scale and cowled engines must be carefully built. But they actually work great. Our density altitude never gets that bad.
