Default RE: flying with spectators

You did it right! Good job.

I was flying in front of about 50 people 2 years ago. Came out of the bottom of a loop and into a roll. When I came out of that, the heli felt funny. I realized that I had no cyclic either way and no collective. I went to the side with the stick and shut the motor off. Wasn't about to let it drift into the crowd. Made a nice landing, right on its side. Stopped the blades instantly. That was the way it should have worked. I could have probably tryed to save it, but if it would have gotten into the crowd, that would be bad. 3 months later, same heli, same field, it did it again. This time I was way out across the runway. I managed to get it flat and land it somehow with little damage. New metal gear servos and no more problem!

Always have a plan in your head if things go bad. Don't ever let them talk you into something you are not sure you are ready for. They don't understand what it takes to fly one and they don't have the money wrapped up in it. Don't ever put the price of repairs in your head if you are in trouble and there are people in jeopordy. You are better to stuff it in and stop the blades fast than to fly into people and risk hurting one or killing one.

Just some things to think about.
