Just like I've read here.. I had a friend watching me hover a bit (i'm a newb). And he's all, "C'mon, spin it around!!!" I told him I read about people pressuring the pilots to "Go For It." and crashing. I told him I would not fall for it and landed safely.
Thank you all fer the advise!

My biggest worry with spectaters is that I have to remain aware of where they are, and what they are doing... More of a distraction really, although it's kinda nice to have a witness when you crash... I don't know why that is... I guess it's just lonely crashing by yourself.
But yeah, I don't let them goad me into anything stupid either.

Good choice.
Never ....EVER let someone get you do do something your not ready for.
If more people used that kind of sound judgement, we'd probably have fewer accidents.
Good Job.

You did it right! Good job.
I was flying in front of about 50 people 2 years ago. Came out of the bottom of a loop and into a roll. When I came out of that, the heli felt funny. I realized that I had no cyclic either way and no collective. I went to the side with the stick and shut the motor off. Wasn't about to let it drift into the crowd. Made a nice landing, right on its side. Stopped the blades instantly. That was the way it should have worked. I could have probably tryed to save it, but if it would have gotten into the crowd, that would be bad. 3 months later, same heli, same field, it did it again. This time I was way out across the runway. I managed to get it flat and land it somehow with little damage. New metal gear servos and no more problem!
Always have a plan in your head if things go bad. Don't ever let them talk you into something you are not sure you are ready for. They don't understand what it takes to fly one and they don't have the money wrapped up in it. Don't ever put the price of repairs in your head if you are in trouble and there are people in jeopordy. You are better to stuff it in and stop the blades fast than to fly into people and risk hurting one or killing one.
Just some things to think about.

This is also an excellent attitude to get into if you ever intend to fly real toys! (parachutes, paragliders, hang-gliders, motorcycles) The temptation grows with your skill level so, unlike most skills, it is something that must be practiced more the better you get. Learning this lesson with toys is better than with cars or real flying toys.
Smashing a heli is one thing, but smashing your body to impress some stranger is even more silly (yet still happens).
