are you saying a 50cc is significantly more power than a 40cc? It has plenty of power with the 40, a 50 would be additional weight. My cap weighs around 12# with the ZDZ40. It is exceptionally light already. It would "handle" a 50cc just fine, but why add weight? (except the BME or Brison, which weigh less...)

The reason I posted this is the Hangar 9 80" Cap is roughly the same size/dimensions of the Midwest Cap. There are a few changes that can be made during construction that will dramatically decrease the weight. The Hangar 9 weighs around 15# with a 50cc engine.

Note these planes are quite a bit larger than the CHP Cap-X/Extrem Aircraft Cap 232, which can both handle the 50cc. Chip has a video of his Cap-X with a DA 50 on his website.
