Your not doing anything wrong.

I have heard this many times. If you put in the aluminim diff gear it will destroy the plastic idler gear over and over. Get an aluminum idler gear and u'll be fine. I love my evader also

Just remember that making one part stronger will most likely end up with another part breaking.
