Default evader question

ok I've had my evader for about two weeks now and I have had quite a few problems with it. First I burned out a diff which I replaced no problem. Then I stripped a gear in my stearing servo, again no problem to fix with new gears. Then I blew another diff, and replaced it (no dummy I) with an aluminum one. About a quarter of a tank later I stripped out the idler gear. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I know these trucks are very popular but I've never run more than 3 tanks through it without a trip to my LHS to pick up some more parts. Getting a little frustrated although it's a BLAST when it runs! (And no problems at all from the engine other than a burnt-out glow plug which is kind of expected).

If you stripped your idler gear then you probably have your slipper clutch too tight.

You might have broken it in wrong. If you are blowing diffs and idle gears you are doin somethin funny. What kind of land are you driving it on (street, dirt, etc.) Also whats the weather conditions around you. Get back to me.

well you are really driving in the same conditions that I am right now and when I broke in my car. Also are you just letting the car loose and pretty much "flooring" it? If you are that could be the problem if not your diff has been set wrong. The idle gear as the other person said could be too tight.

ya I think I had my diff set too tight, I did some work on it today and it seems to be running well but I haven't gotten a chance to really try it out lately. I don't really drive the car that hard and I rarely go above 3/4 throttle so I don't think that's it.

Yeah, then either your diff is too tight or your slipper clutch is.

Your not doing anything wrong.

I have heard this many times. If you put in the aluminim diff gear it will destroy the plastic idler gear over and over. Get an aluminum idler gear and u'll be fine. I love my evader also

Just remember that making one part stronger will most likely end up with another part breaking.
