Default oh no... help!

I have been building a HOB V-Tail Beechcraft Bonanza for about 2 months now. You know, taking my time, trying to get it all right since it is my first kit. Now this is an older kit, and with this problem, Im guessing that engine sizes have changed. It called for a TD .049-.051 (yes I know its small). So I go buy one and begin the mounting process, etc... Then I notice that the engine compartment is about 3/4" - 1" or so to small in length to accomodate this engine! Im thinking OMG... my firewall is epoxied in place, so there is no shifting it back (or is there?). If I extend it, it will throw off the other pieces that mount around it... so Im just totally lost on what my options would be. It's like the engine is larger now than when this kit was designed (somewhere in the 70's I think). Any ideas would be greatly helpful, and if needed, I can post some good pics of the problem. PLEASE HELP! [&o]
