RE: Modeltech .25 Extra 300 conversion
Been flying my Converted Modeltech Extra 300 for about 6 months now, and it's been a lot of fun.
AXI 2820/12 swinging a APC 11/7 E prop
PolyQuest 3S-1P 3100 batteries, with a castle creations 45 Amp speed control and BEC
Draws 28 Amps on the bench and stays up for well over 10 minutes with power to spare for a couple of go arounds on landing. Which are often needed as it does like to come in hot.
does fly fast, and furious. Had one of the 3-D flyers give it a go, and found that it can do things that I never have learned to do. Inverted flat spins, aileron rolls on a string from horizon to horizon, Knife edge flight the full length of the runway at about 5 ft. Vertical is limited, but on some of the manuevers he found that if he dove slightly to really get some speed, it would go vertical, but not for too long.
all in all a fun plane to fly, and pretty sturdy. Survived some pretty tough landings, and only took off the landing gear.
