Default RC boat build from scratch, need help deciding engine etc.

I am in the proccess of building a model of a WWII destroyer and the hull is nearing completion. I went to the hobby store and the person there wasn't experienced with gas boats, just electric ones. I wanted to make it gas powered because electric just wouldnt be that cool. The specs on the boat are as such: it is 4' long with a 6" beam, an ~1/2" thick hull that is plywood. The hull was constructed from layers of 1/4" plywood laminated together then shaped, so it feels very light. I was wondering what size engine would be best, because i dont want to buy a $140 engine to have it not be right! I was also wondering how I should do the drive shaft and what size propeller. Do I really need a clutch? If someone who knows how i should do this could let me know, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
