Tek helis probably will always be second to planes. Planes are much cheaper in a comparable size and are easier to fly, until you get into advanced flight. Certainly planes are easier to learn to fly and a lot less maintenance. I have 3 planes and a heli right now, all 3 planes cost just a little more than my heli. I like flying both, but at my club only 3 people fly helis, 1 guy has been hovering for more than a year and the other generally flies at another local clubs field. There are no conflicts in my club about flying helis though, thankfully.
