Hey Pat,
I have mine flaperons set to 20 % and do pretty good. I drop about 1-1 1/2 inches. Might be a little to much starting out...

As for props... I have tried just about all of them, besides a three blade and as with everything it depends on what you're going to do when you fly...3D hit a 12.75 x 3.25 or sim. If you just flying anything should work great, but go higher then a 13 ish blade and you'll hit the blade on either take off or landing...
