Default Aeroflyte Sabre Conversion Help

Hi, I am converting an aeroflyte sabre wooden boat to an rc version. The boat is only 400mm long. Ive got a castle creations phoenix 25A speedy, Motor Max 400 brushless and a 11.1V lithium im going to put in it. Has anyone converted one of these before? They are mainly found in Australia.
Im not sure where abouts to make the prop shaft come out of the boat cause i am sure the standard hole is way to far forward and will push the nose down to much cause of the angle too. Also would i be better off the run a gear drive with such a small motor? Does anyone know any good plans for making a small rudder system preferably aluminium for a boat of this size?

Thanks
