how does the hog fly compared to say a pitts......im interested in biplanes(whatever i build will be kit) so i was wondering...
Aggie,
I have limited experience here to help you out. I've not flown a bipe before today.
However, I WILL say the following about this one...I noticed NONE of the supposedly 'difficult' characteristics bipes have. I'd been warned that they were very skittish on the ground...not so with this one. I'd also been told they tend to be a bit less stable than say a high wing...again, not that I noticed.
Several reviews I've read suggest the Hog is a perfect first bipe...from what little I've seen so far, I'd have to agree. It was easier to take off, land, and fly than I'd been led to believe bipes are.
Also (and my uncle confirmed this) reviews suggest that the Sig Hog Bipe is an EXTREMELY well designed and engineered kit with excellent instructions. Again suggesting (to me at least) that it would be a good first bipe.
Certainly, Ken and some of the others can shed more light here.
I CAN, however, say that, as my introduction to flying a bipe, it was a very good 'choice'.
