Its for the fun in developing it. I currently study under Dr. Shauck at the Baylor Institute for Aviation Sciences. If you dont know who he is, he made the first Trans-Atlantic crossing in an Ethanol Powered aircraft (got the Harmon Trophy for it to). Along with a bunch of other prestigious accolades. So you can see I have a pretty good mentor to follow.
Im not a tree hugging hippie. Methanol and gas are fine.... but you know all that "we are going to run out" propoganda.
Consider this a start. My future career will be in this field and other aviation areas, so I thought why not take two things I am interested in and mold them together.
Ethanol is a completely renewable fuel, increases power, and burns cooler than other fuels. So its got its advantages.
We (Baylor) have our own supply of ethanol fuel. Now, I just have to convince them Im going to fly with it not drinnk it
