Well, my original idea was to convert a weed wacker engine to an RC enginge and hehe.. making that then an ethanol engine.
That is of course the ruff idea of it.
If you know as much about it as I think you do... you obviously cant use a glow plug system for ethanol. However I could take a simple OS engine and dump out the piston and put a spark plug in. But that isnt likely what I will do. Id like the final engine to be atleast a 1.74 cu in. I am still researching this all so I dont have a real answer as of yet. I dont know the ignition on a weed wacker so i cant really say about that.
I do know however that I can take a gas engine and do what is necessary....
Hopefuly I can run a full blend or atleast 95% ethanol.

Just curious as to why you want to do this in the first place!
Methanol and Gas are perectly acceptable and well proven fuels which need no further development.
Where are you going to get ethanol which is pure enough to use as a fuel? How do you plan to avoid liquour excise and taxes?
Without trying to be rude or knock your efforts, you really seem to want to find the answer to a non-problem.........or am I missing something?

Its for the fun in developing it. I currently study under Dr. Shauck at the Baylor Institute for Aviation Sciences. If you dont know who he is, he made the first Trans-Atlantic crossing in an Ethanol Powered aircraft (got the Harmon Trophy for it to). Along with a bunch of other prestigious accolades. So you can see I have a pretty good mentor to follow.
Im not a tree hugging hippie. Methanol and gas are fine.... but you know all that "we are going to run out" propoganda.
Consider this a start. My future career will be in this field and other aviation areas, so I thought why not take two things I am interested in and mold them together.
Ethanol is a completely renewable fuel, increases power, and burns cooler than other fuels. So its got its advantages.
We (Baylor) have our own supply of ethanol fuel. Now, I just have to convince them Im going to fly with it not drinnk it
Did I bore you?
