You've got a good start on materials. I bent my stainless steel tubing so that it would be directly in the exhaust approx 1.5 inchs behind my tail cone. The ends of the tubing have been squeezed together to produce a vertical fan shaped mist. Since my AV8R is cramped for space, I built what I call a smoke boat that has the 20 oz tank, a used turbine fuel pump, a 30 amp speed controller and a 1700 mah lipo batt all inside. It hangs on a BVM bomb drop which is on the CG. I also put the smoker channel on a slider switch on my 9Z transmitter and can adjust the speed of the smoke pump to give me whiffs of smoke or really dense (smoke screen type) smoke.
