RE: C160 transall build
Well, there's not much that hasn't been said about the Transall on this thread, but I'll throw my hat in the ring. Like JMUpilot said, I also have the .25 LA's on mine also, and do most of the flying at half throttle. I'm running 9 x 5 MS props on it. Personally, I like doing take offs and landings as much as flying the thing-it looks so scale that way. I feel the same way about my AC-130.
I have found that by running lower pitch props, you can keep the idle RPM up high enough to lower the possibility of an engine flame out, and also, the 2 cycle engines have more of that "turbine whine" when taxiing during take offs and landings. I have definitely enjoyed mine. someone else mentioned that the nose gear hardware was less than adequate, and unless they have chnaged it, they are right. It's junk. That aluminum axle stripped out before I even got mine assembled, but I made my own which is very simple to do, works better, and doesn't show. But if you don't have the facilities or means to make your own, it would be a big deal.
Pete is right, these suckers are like minature grass sweepers. And if you don't check it, it will end up in the tail section. So if you fly off of freshly cut grass, shake the grass out after each flight. My Herk does the same thing.
