RE: 3W 150Qs-need help
Ronk, yours does not have the spacer. When I bought my QS150 in Nov. 02 from Cactus it didn't have the spacer either so I know that some motors have been sold without them. The motor will run fine without the spacer but the very ends of the reeds will get nibbled a little. I don't run one on my regular 150 and it runs fine. Garrett Morrison has stated that he feels the midrange is improved a bit without the spacer but I can't really tell. One thing is if for sure, make sure you have a gasket in between the case and reed assembly no matter what way you go. Oh and be VERY careful when you tighten the four bolts that hold the reed assembly on. The lower carb block cracks very easily. Basically I run them up till they are very lightly snugged and then using my forefinger and thumb on a tee-handle turn the bolts in till I can't tighten them anymore. Overtighten and you're out $50 so be careful.
