Default RE: CMpro Super Chipmunk

I have a 40 size CM Pro Super Chipmunk that I have been flying for a couple years now. Been quite a while since I assembled the thing but I will try to recall.

- Watch out for the landing gear blocks in the wing. I have to change mine after a few landings. The wood was rather soft and brittle. Also, the hole for the landing gear was drilled too close to the edge. If you dont want to replace the blocks, then reinforce it.

- The red white and blue covering are okay but the black ones peeled after a while no matter what I did. I eventually replaced it with monocote.

- you might want to reinforce the wood where you intstall the blind nuts for the wing hold down bolts. Recently, when I tried to take off the bolt, the blind nut cut into the wood and the result was a big hole right throught the wood and the fiberglass.

The plane flies okay and lands like a trainer. Lovely sight when you land on the mains and watch the tail stay up until you slow way down.

Nice snaps and loops but rolls are not axial. I have a Saito 56 on mine and cant get much vertical and also I cant hold a knife edge for long. Then again, it might be the pilot and not the plane.
