First, I recommend you find a club that you'd like to join, then get AMA and join the club. I looked up your zip code, and found out you have many clubs to choose from.

Try looking around there. Being on Lake Stevens, you may discover there are some float plane flyers around you.

There's one in Marysville, Everett, Granite Falls, Arlington, Monroe, Snohomish, then they kinda get really far away. Those are all AMA chartered clubs.

I've been to the one in Snohomish, it's not bad. Doesn't have a great flying site, but it serves it's purpose fine for most people. I fly at Marymoor regularly, and 60 Acres flying field (not actually 60 acres... but the soccer fields off to the side are).
