Default RE: mounting a gyro

I've never found a difference in performance or gain no matter where I mounted the gyro.

The only difference I have found is HOW the gyro is mounted. Some (the Futaba gy series) have internal dampening and benefit from a sturdier mount, I use 2 layers of Scotch double sided out door mounting tape. You can pick up the heli by the gyro with this stuff and seems to hold up against fuel spray very well.

The CSM gyros are hard mounted in the case and need the spongy double sided tape that they come with to react properly. Soft mounting gy gyros has, in my experiance, caused problems.

Also keep extensions, if you need one, as short as possible.
