Default RE: Learn to Fly without an instructor

"Rural Canada" - LOL are any of you fellas also hockey fans? Wayne Gretzky " Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club" before the trade to LA Kings. The originator of this thread built a great easy flying design for a small field or park flyer model.

I'm getting back into the hobby after quite a couple of decades. I went to the local fields to get help and advice. Soloed on a Sig Kadet in 10 flights. Flight simulators, I have one now. The pc was just getting used by the University during my third year. It probably would have helped some of us. I seem to recall a sequence of build, fly, crash, rebuild, fly, crash, new kit, etc. It's still quite the hobby.

This thread seems to have lost focus.

I get the feeling the dude was just trying to show off his beautiful plane and sweet skills. Good job!

I know very little about Edmonton, but here is what google pulled up: "At 670 km, Edmonton is one of the largest cities in North America, by area — larger in area than Chicago, Philiadelphia, and detroit. However, Edmonton also has the one of the lowest population densities in North America — about 67 times less than New York."

While learning at a club is generally preferable for a bunch of reasons, it could probably be hard to find an instructor or a nearby club in rural Canada. The guy just wants to fly RC and he did it successfully. So much drama!
