Default RE: Genesis 4-stroke "completed", need skid plate

Thanks Guys, (except magogat)

wilsog,
It sounds great, not too loud to run in the back yard without pissing off the neighbors. I had just installed mufflers and it was really quiet, stealth mode, almost too quiet. I will try to get video soon. I am using a Y cable. I originally tied the servos together to sync the front and rear steering. I have gone back to front steering only for now but kept the second servo. I used steel brake line tubing smashed flat at each end. The front wheels will now steer fully while sitting still in grass.

rolland,
I use a 12V airplane style starter with a rubber wheel to spin the flywheel, like the old days before nitro pull starters. At first it did not have enough torque to turn it over. I am now using an 18V battery and it works fine.

mulletman,
I bought the engine in the early '80s it is an OS FT-120 old style. There is no kit. I used aluminum angle for the front and rear motor mounts and hacked it together with hand tools and a belt sander. The hardest part would be finding a clutch and flywheel large enough and with the right threads. I got mine back then from a hobby store that specialized in helicopters. The gears and hub are the stock parts from the transmission with the one way bearing replaced by a standard one.

I got the Genesis on e-bay with no engine for $300 and had the engine sitting around for 20+ years. any idiot would like that deal.

I have done some more mods and will post them soon, aluminum upper and lower chassis braces, a brake torque multiplier, aluminum servo saver and bell crank, air filled tubes in the tires and I just got the Saito 182 installed. The FT-120 broke a rod and scored the crankshaft after a cap screw fell out. They don't sell parts for it anymore and like ThunderbirdJunkie says: MORE POWER. FT-120 = 1.7HP Saito 182 = 2.8HP and way more torque then any nitro 2 stroke.
