Default RE: Great Planes 40 size Extra 300

ORIGINAL: Greg Agar

I am 14 years old and have been flying for about 6 years. I am just starting to get into 3D flying and I built a 40 size Extra by Great Planes. I have finished it and flown my dad test flew it for the first time on Sunday. I put a 46 LA on it but it doesn't seem to have the power to do the 3D manouvers. I was wondering what you guys were putting on it for power. If you could give me your input that would be great. Thanks Greg.
How are you doing Greg?

Put it on a good scale and see what it weighs. If it weighs 5.75 to 6.5 pounds with the LA46 you want at least a SA82 or YS63 or a .91 two stroke for "get out of trouble power" while you are perfecting your maneuvers.

Not sure how stable the Great Planes 40 EXTRA is for learning 3D--you may have your hands full.

Pl edge 540 and Fliton 330 are the best scale like 40 sized 3D planes out there, but still not as good as a profile or foamy for learning the tricks.
