RE: Clutch Bell needs replacing...
Ya, setting the clutch bell gear too far away from, or even too tight against--the spur gear will wear it prematurely. I JUST now found this out the hard way. I had mine too far from the spur gear and I now need a new clutch bell too.
I heard they are supposed to be tight (so they dont slip past one another), but have a small amount of play. I used a piece of paper to set mine (wedged a piece of paper between the spur and the clutch bell gear). Apparantly I either moved it before I tightened the motor mounts, or I used a piece of paper that is too thick.
Thats one thing no one ever states--how THICK of a piece of paper should I use??? I cut a slice of a post-it--is that paper too thick stock??
