No it does not come with the kit. It is made by a company named Aeronaut specially for AXI motors. Go for the recommended configuration you will not change your mind if you want to 3D...the plane will come pretty light. Second option is to use a Lehner inrunner motor instead of the Hacker, Josh Glavin uses Lehner with excellent results, have you seen his video? Simply awesome...and proves the real flying abilities of the plane, but this has come about 100 gr less than mine. This is due to the battery mainly...

Every time I decide to use something different from the recommended, I'm pretty disappointed afterwards.
