starting a build of a Fliton Jumping Jack.....
like to use an outrunner.....
either a Hacker A20 or insanely overpowered with an A30....
anyone have pics of how they set up the motor mount for an outrunner?
did you use the stick?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

I have the Prodigy from Fliton (same basic specs as the Jumping Jack) and just couldn't get the power performance form the A20-20 or 20L with an AUW of 21oz with TP1320 prolite packs. I now have a Hacker A30-16M, X30 controller, APC11.5.5E prop, TP2100 3cell prolite packs. AUW is 25oz, but the performance is fantastic, more for aerobatics than 3D so depends on what you want.

Try the Himaxx 2816 ... you can go either way ... radial or stick mount. That is a good motor. I did not know the A30 is a 250W-300W motor! Wooow ...

Hi,
I have been using AXI 2808/24 on my Jumping Jack. It has come heavier than expected as it needs high capacity and thus heavy batteries. I've been using KOKAM 2000mAh and Thunder Power 2100mAh. I'm using a balsa stick mount that has broken twice, I plan reinforce it with some carbon or fiber cloth. With this combo the plane has to fly fast due to extra weight and can not 3D as expected, it is around 650gr. Power is more than enough with APC 11x5.5E, but wing loading has been increased dramatically.
It can pattern very well though, I enjoy flying pattern with this plane, however I have reduced the throws to fly smoothly but they are not enough during landing approach due to extra weight. That's why I broke the stick mount last time. I can fly the novice schedule pretty well with this plane.
If I were you I would go go with the recommended configuration Hacker inrunner B20-15L and would use the Hacker mount supplied with the new kits. You will not have to use as heavy batteries as you'd use with the outrunner. I plan seriously to switch into Hacker inrunner.
That's my 2 cents. Regards,
Nick

By the way this motor pulls around 24A continuous current and power output is around 230 Watts which is ok for hover and good pull out IMO.

Thanks... I'm starting to rethink too....
I like that mount though... was that in the kit?? I didn't see it (but I haven't had a chance to dig through yet.....)

No it does not come with the kit. It is made by a company named Aeronaut specially for AXI motors. Go for the recommended configuration you will not change your mind if you want to 3D...the plane will come pretty light. Second option is to use a Lehner inrunner motor instead of the Hacker, Josh Glavin uses Lehner with excellent results, have you seen his video? Simply awesome...and proves the real flying abilities of the plane, but this has come about 100 gr less than mine. This is due to the battery mainly...
Every time I decide to use something different from the recommended, I'm pretty disappointed afterwards.
Rgrds,
Nick
