Default 9CAP setup with Commander Version, USB Slave and Adapter Cable

I have the AFPD Commander Version and have just picked up the USB Multi-Player Slave and Futaba Adapter Cable from Ikarus to enable me to use my 9CAP with AFPD. I have everything connected, the radio is powered on and set to a PPM model. Windows XP does recognize the device as "Ikarus Interface" and the status is OK. I am unable however, to use the Windows XP "Game Controller" interface to test or calibrate the device. It does not recognize any inputs from the 9C. Further, I can define the new controller in AFPD as USB Dummy Intf#0 and it shows as active, Status is OK and it detects 12 channels. I however, cannot calibrate through AFPD either as it also fails to recognize any 9C inputs.
I assume the radio must be powered on and is, and that the RF Module is also left in the Radio. Does anybody know the proper installation steps to get a 9CAP to work with the previously mentioned environment?
