Default RE: CMP Hellcat

Saw a bunch of these getting auctioned on *bay. I picked one up for $127. WHAT A DEAL! Packing was very good. Covering is outstanding. Instructions and assembly were easy.

Installed a Magnum 120, put a 1400ma battery at the CG point and it balanced perfectly without any added weight. I shot a thin layer of minwax polyurethane on the paint due to some complaints I read about the paint here.

I'm sticking with fixed gear because I love touch and goes and fly a lot when I get to the field. Too much maintenance and the gear would cost more than twice as much as the plane.

The plane weighs 12lb minus fuel. The 120 gets it off the ground in a hurry. Flys very nicely, predictable and is stable. It's not terribly fast with a 16x6 prop, but fast enough for more than scale speed. I have max recommended throws on everything. The flaps are very effective at 35mm movement and slow the plane significantly. Very easy landing plane for a war-bird. Cleaned up nicely after a 1/2 gallon of fuel ran though it sunday.

I would highly recommend this as a first war-bird.
