Hey proteus_x3,
Did you get to maiden the Hellcat this past year ? How did your 4.5in CG work? I have a good friend who just found one of these new in the box however it's missing the manual.
If anyone has a manual that you don't need and would sell that would be great. PM me with details/cost and I can get for him.
He has about 40+ years in RC so he can build it without the manual, but it's nice to have...

Thanks Guys,
NCRC was very kind and sent me the files.
proteus-x3,
Thanks, Keep us posted once you fly it in the spring. There is a fair amount of CG info in this thread, however, it's hard to tell how people are actually balancing the F6F. Some wheels down, some wheels up at various points but it's hard to tell how and where people ended up. With rotating retracts I'd hate to get it wrong.
I know it's a great flying plane and need a solid CG to recommend for success.

I finally got mine in the air the other day after a three year delay. I recently found a set of Century Jet retracts that allowed me to finish the plane and maiden it. It still needs a lot of cosmetic work, but I'm glad that it appears to be a pretty decent flying warbird and should be worth cleaning up. A fresh paint job, some Callie graphics and a few pieces from Mr. Veich (hopefully) and it might come together pretty well.
I'm flying mine with a Turnigy 5065-380 motor, CastleTalon 90 esc, 6s 5000 lipo and a 17 x 8 prop. I'm still trying to get it dialed in, haven't tried the flaps yet and looking forward to seeing if they can help slow my landing approaches a bit...

Just a quick question, I picked one of these up from an estate sale, while it was mostly complete it is missing some key pieces. It is missing both elevators, the rudder and the flaps. Can someone point me in the direction of someplace where I can get the size balsa I need to be able to cut the control surfaces out in 1 piece, I have bad thoughts of an elevator that is pieced together breaking mid flight. The widest I can find locally is 3" wide, but that is in no way wide enough to make the elevators. Any help is very much appreciated.

I have gotten the control surfaces taken care of now but have a couple more questions. Would someone be able to tell me the measurement from the prop washer to the firewall please. I know it is probably someplace in this post, but have not found it yet, where is the CG balance point for this plane? Thank yall in advance for the information.
