first warbird
for a first warbird i would recommend the great planes p51. its a sport version of the p51 and has a real easy to fly design- assuming you build it straight of course. the hangar 9 is ok too if you want to try an arf instead of a kit. but i would replace the retracts that come with the hangar 9 with spring air retracts as the hangar 9 are kind of wimpy.
for a second/more scale warbird i would do either the top flite p47 or the top flite fw190d9 (both 60 size). i have the top flite p47, the pica fw190d9, and the top flite p51 60 size planes, and they all fly fine, but the p47 and the fw190 are a little easier to fly for a first warbird. the mustang is a bit more scale and takes a little more care when flying, but its a great mustang. the pica fw190 is a great flyer- it just takes some rework at the front end as it was designed with engine mounting rails instead of a flat firewall mount, so i would redo this to mount the engione more easily.
